Continued excellence - Keep it up, A's!

The Swingin' A's continued their hot streak Wednesday night with a 4-4 tie against the Tigers. Our bats remain hot, and we had some startling defensive gems - video re-enactment to come soon. We are planning on an hour practice on Sunday at 6:00 at Lydell for all interested as we prepare for our week three contests against the Braves and Astros.

More Athletic Success!

The A's continue to roll! We are really swinging the bats, playing solid defense, and pitching with a vengeance. Most importantly, the entire team seems to work well together, especially in having fun! The Brewers fell to the ladies in green and gold last week, and this evening the Cubs were no match for the athleticism of the Athletics. The Tigers are up next - hopefully our hot streak will continue! Check back for more updates, images, and video - we will have all of the girls on here very shortly!

Opening Night Excitement

What an exciting opening night! Down by three runs in the final frame, the pesky A's fired up the aluminum and pushed four girls across the plate, then held on in the bottom of the inning to record a victory. Thanks to some great pitching by both teams, we were able to play five full innings , so every girl played in the field at least four times and batted twice. Most importantly, everyone seemed to listen, learn, and have a great time. Look for some pictures and video starting next week!

Welcome to the A’s!

Dave, Tim and I (Chuck) are excited for the upcoming girls’ softball season. We have a solid squad of 14 stellar athletes (we are Athletic, after all) and are looking forward to working with the girls, helping them develop their skills and understanding of the game of softball, and having fun!

We plan on having a few practices before opening night to introduce ourselves, discuss the rules of softball, work on hitting, throwing, and catching, hand out our cool hats and uniforms (think green), and get to know each other. Our planned practice times are Sunday, June 6 from 5:30-6:45 and Wednesday, June 9 from 7:00-8:00. Each practice will be held at Lydell school. We know school is still in session and weekends are busy, but we would love to see as many girls as possible at the practices.

Opening night is Monday, June 14 at 5:00 at Lydell. A season schedule is attached. I have also made a small website that will hold some information, our schedule, and images and vide as the season progresses. You can access this at http://wfbas.blogspot.com/.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us! Looking forward to a great season ...
